Martin Dougiamis - Remote Learning
We are joined by Martin Dougiamas (Founder of Moodle) for a conversation about remote learning and remote living. This podcast is part of #RELEARN2020.
Martin Dougiamas is a computer scientist, educator, author and speaker from Australia. His own childhood and early education experiences were spent in remote locations in West Australia. His passion as a computer scientist became the development of the open source Moodle learning platform. Martin is the founder and CEO of Moodle Pty Ltd. The Moodle project is backed up by a large online community and in January 2016 the crowdfunding Moodle Users Association was launched.
Martin is a defender of open-source software and has been involved in open-source advocacy. In 2019 Moodle had 104,000 registered sites with 164 million users in 225 territories worldwide. This number has increased exponentially as a result of the current pandemic.
